OF THE PROJECT

Geotechnical & geophysical investigations have been carried out in both the European and Anatolian sides of İstanbul. The geophysical surveys included Microtremor measuments which were carried out by Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute and PS Logging surveys which were applied by İstanbul Technical University Civil Engineering Faculty Geotechnical Engineering Department. At the European side the investigated section consists of an area situated between the west of Küçükçekmece Lake (Avcılar-Firuzköy) to north east to east direction to Beşiktaş. The investigation at the Anatolian side includes the area between Üsküdar/Kadıköy and Tuzla towards north east-south east directions The field work of the investigation includes drilling of 48 boreholes, execution of 40 microtremor and 39 PS Logging measurements. 48 boreholes down to max. 206m depth have been drilled between 13.07.2001 and 21.10.2001. Each borehole has been performed at the required depth upon the instruction of the Client.
